First and foremost of which is sleep disorders and a variety of somatic symptoms which we’ll discuss. But sleep is a very strong indicator that something is wrong. Okay. Sleep disorder is a very strong indicator that something is wrong. It could be in insomnia. It could be the opposite. Sleeping, sleeping too much. It could be inability to fall asleep. It could be proper human mazism. Victims of abuse in uh in general and victims of narcissistic abuse in particular suffer from myriad bodily symptoms, corporeal symptoms. First and foremost of which is sleep disorders and a variety of somatic symptoms which we’ll discuss. But sleep is a very strong indicator that something is wrong. Okay. So when something goes wrong in the wake of abuse, you should investigate in order to eliminate a psychoggenic uh ethiology. In other words, you should investigate whether what’s happening in your body is actually an expression of your psychology rather than a true medical condition. You should of course investigate a true medical condition. and something is happening in your body, it is as likely to be the outcome of the abuse as it is likely to be a true medical condition, true blue medical condition. So when something goes wrong in the wake of abuse, you should investigate in order to eliminate a psychoggenic uh ethiology. In other words, you should investigate whether what’s happening in your body is actually an expression of your psychology rather than a true medical condition. You should of course investigate a true medical condition.

I was lucky enough to study my professors of medicine were were Russian. So there were Russian Jews who came to Israel in the 70s. Your common enemy is, you know, but you are friends with your body. This your body has your back. And victims of narcissistic abuse very often are angry. They have what we call diffuse anger. They’re angry. They cannot take it out of the narcissist. So they displace the anger. They displace the anger and they become angry at themselves. Rather than be angry at the narcissist need to strike an alliance with your body. You need to be allies and your common enemy is the abuse. Your common enemy is a disease. Your common enemy is, you know, but you are friends with your body. This your body has your back. And victims of narcissistic abuse very often are angry. They have what we call diffuse anger. They’re angry. They cannot take it out of the narcissist. So they displace the anger. They displace the anger and they become angry at themselves. Rather than be angry at the narcissist

It’s unhealthy. Of course, if you ignore your body, you ignore your body at your peril. So attention is the first element. The second element is regulation. Ultimately we can do anything we wish to our bodies. We can self- amputate. We can commit suicide. We can our bodies are at our mercy. There’s only one other situation which is like that a child a newborn when there is a newborn that newborn is completely dependent on you. You can do anything you want to this newborn. There’s no push back. There’s no the the newborn is helpless and so on. Your body is exactly the same. It’s exactly the same. Think about it for a minute. It’s

So your body is your baby and you need to develop a parental relationship with the body, a relationship of custodianship, of guardianship, a relationship of protection and care and a commitment to compassionate companionship and observation and monitoring and disciplining. Absolutely disciplining as well the way a parent would discipline the child. This reconception of the body as a child is very I found it very very helpful because it establishes strict behavioral parameters which are very exactly the same. So your body is your baby and you need to develop a parental relationship with the body, a relationship of custodianship, of guardianship, a relationship of protection and care and a commitment to compassionate companionship and observation and monitoring and disciplining. Absolutely disciplining as well the way a parent would discipline the child.
